Back from a great weekend at the Dorset Seafood Festival
Me and the team have arrived back in Peterhead now after a crazy, busy weekend at the Dorset Seafood Festival. Exhausted yes, but we have had a fantastic time at what is the UK's largest seafood festival. We certainly made a good impression, I think, judging by the popularity of our fresh sustainable Scottish fish anyway!
My dream of creating the Skipper’s Choice website, which will deliver freshly landed fish from our shores to your door has finally become a reality.
The weather on Saturday was glorious, with thousands flocking to the festival. We were rushed off our feet with crowds of visitors tasting our great products.
Two chefs from ESS were part of our team, Graham Singer and Chris Macleod, and they cooked some wonderful dishes for the audience to enjoy.
Seafood wraps were our best seller with four flavours: Cajun cod and chorizo, smoked mackerel, hot smoked salmon and langoustine. Cold smoked lemon sole was also a favourite, with salad, as were lots of other products that we served over the two days.
On Sunday, Chef Graham and I showcased an award winning seafood dish, featuring Scottish salmon, smoked haddock and langoustine. This was prepared in front of a big crowd and then auctioned off for charity. The proceeds are going to the Fishermen’s Mission, a charity that I personally like to support and promote.
I would like to thank all the visitors who came and thanked us for travelling so far with some great Scottish seafood. Your comments make it all worthwhile. The Dorset Seafood Festival is a great showcase for Scotland's finest seafood. A big thank you must go to the entire team - ESS and their two chefs, the Milne family and Amy and Nicola.
Now to the real business of selecting, preparing and packaging the freshly-landed fish for our first orders that will be dispatched tomorrow.
